![]() Here are the symptoms I suffered from before I started my treatment, and information about how they have improved.
As for my Hidradenitis Suppurativa (the original problem here), I have been enjoying the following results:
My treatment consists of the following:
History and other treatments: I do not use any lotions, baby oil, powder, or skin conditioners. I don't need to, anymore. I use a regular anti-perspirant/deodorant under my arms. I am not currently on any medications. I am not under a doctors care. I am not using any other topical medications, such as benzoyl peroxide, on my skin. I briefly took selenium and iron supplements, but I am unsure of their effect and have discontinued them for now. I am not using Colloidal silver or any other remedy not listed here. I have not been to a doctor in a year and a half, and that was for an ear infection. I have not been to a doctor for my HS since about 1996. I have had HS for 13 years. In the last 6 years, it has been mostly tolerable, with occasional flare-ups and few new breakouts. Aside from the symptoms listed here, I do not currently have any other medical conditions. In the last 8 years, I have had extensive dental work, and I have had genital warts removed twice. I was diagnosed as having Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, but I declined surgery. The pain in my wrists went away and never came back. Dietary changes: The changes in my diet are not an act of will, but a response to having fewer cravings. I drink about 90% less beer. I eat about 75% less sugar, and about 50% less carbohydrates than before. I drink about 90% less soda and sweetened drinks. Additionally, I drink about 3 quarts of water a day, and I take a fiber supplement (water-soluble fiber) daily. Side effects: I haven't noticed any side effects of this treatment except for an occasional, mild headache, and mild gas/upset stomach during the first week. I have had a couple of hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) incidents because I don't have cravings to eat like I used to, so I completely forget to eat sometimes. I ate a cookie, followed by a healthy meal, to get my blood sugar back to normal. I have had very mild hyperglycemic (high blood sugar) incidents after eating birthday cake and cookies. I simply worked the excess sugar off by exercising and the incidents passed. It will take a little time to get used to a body that processes sugar properly. Adjusting my diet has not been too difficult, though. Obligatory Disclaimer: The information contained throughout this website is intended for educational purposes only.
